… Penzance! We are so, SO happy to have been able to celebrate our town’s achievements over the last year with so many of you at last night’s Plastic Free Awards.

Hosted by our Community Ally, Newlyn Gallery & The Exchange, and supported with delicious food from Business Champions Little Wonder Cafe and cool grooves from Groove Lounge DJ’s Gary Hughes and Richard Ballinger, we couldn’t have asked for a more positive start to 2019!

We were able to award dozens of our new wooden Plastic Free Champion Awards to businesses in the town who are taking action on single-use, celebrate our schools’ action to raise awareness and reduce plastics as well as say thank you to each and every person who has made a change in their life or taken part in a beach clean.

To summarise our action since we were awarded Plastic Free Approved status by SAS in December 2017 we have awarded 68 Business Champions, signed up 42 Community Allies, worked in 12 schools, held and supported dozens of events and beach cleans, educated, advised, workshopped and smiled our way right out of 2018.

Watch this space … 2019 plans are already underway and we can’t wait to continue the work to free where we live from single-use plastic.

THANK YOU to everyone who helped make it all happen, including last night! Special thanks to Polgoon Vineyard, Mococu Seed of Love and The Cornish Seal Sanctuary for donating gifts.
